Journal 03: America Tony Hoaglands poem America uses precise nouns and metaphors to advertise readers that America is too obsessed with material objects and self-satisfaction. The author uses the Ben Franklins, which is a symbol for coin, to get by almost as a heart attack or rather the junk that clogs on es arteries.
